In the past 11 years, hundreds of players of all ages and skill levels have taken part in the event, which has raised over $155,000 to date. All proceeds benefit the Nick Currey Fund and are used to support research to find a cure for Ewing sarcoma.
The fund was created in memory of Nick Currey, Ridgewood High School Class of 2004, who lost his 14-month battle with Ewing sarcoma on Nov. 3, 2005 at the age of 19. Nick was a lifelong player in the Ridgewood Baseball and Softball Association all the way through 12th grade.
Participants are invited to put together a team of 3 to 5 players and register at www.wiffleforcancer.org. There is a $50 registration fee per team. The tournament features two divisions–a “competitive” division for those teams who want to have fun, but also want to compete seriously, and a “recreational” division for those teams that primarily just want to have fun. Check-in for the tournament starts at 11:30 a.m. while the games start at noon.

Ridgewood High School is located at 627 East Ridgewood Ave.
